Indoor play centres are just brilliant for young children to let off steam, have lots of fun and give mum, dad, grandad or Auntie Jen a well earned coffee and cake break. We proudly designed the indoor play area at Brockhole in the Lake District visitors’ centre.
Claire and I have been visiting Brockhole with our families for years. It’s such an easy place to get to and there’s always something to do. Our kids especially love the Adventure Playground – it’s fantastic for all ages, the only downside is herding everyone together at the end as they never want to leave!
Being asked to get involved with re-designing Brockhole's Indoor Play Area in 2017 really was a very exciting proposal for us. Brockhole is one of the main family attractions in the Lake District with such a range of activities on offer. Our products have been in their beautiful gift shop for some time, and we were over the moon that they chose Felltarn Friends as the theme for their soft play.
What we did…
The brief was to create the designs to be printed onto vinyl boards, effectively becoming the walls of the indoor play area. The lovely people at Brockhole wanted us to recreate the style of our Lake District Adventure book and include scenes of Brockhole, the grounds and of the surrounding mountains.
So Claire got to work on the illustrations, scaling them up to fit perfectly onto the vinyl boards. The Felltarn Friends themselves are featured too – cycling, climbing, sailing and walking, showcasing all the fun to be had in the fells. Not only that, but we made 20 wooden Felltarn Friends for kids to play with and choose where to velcro the characters on the wall – brilliant fun!
Visit Brockhole…
For the older children (not to mention fun-loving grown-ups too) there’s always lots to get stuck in to at Brockhole. Have a go at Archery; Mini Golf; Brave the Cave; the Treetop Trek and Treetop Nets, to name but a few of the activities on offer at this brilliant family attraction. Or, just pack a picnic, have a stroll around the grounds and paddle in the lake if you’re not a fan of the more adrenaline fuelled lifestyle.
